Doug Pauly
Native Sacramentan Doug Pauly has been a professional musician all of his adult
life. He is an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has released
two solo guitar albums. In 1997, The Doug Pauly Quartet released into the wood
a CD of Doug's original jazz compositions. In 2003, the Doug Pauly Trio released
Radiowave, jazz readings of pop tune favorites of the last 35 years. Habañero released its CD Habañero Live in Spring 2004.
Rob Lautz
Rob Lautz received his Bachelors degree in music composition from the Berklee
College of Music in Boston, Mass. where he studied with vibraphonists Gary Burton
and Dave Samuels. He earned his M.A. in Music from San Jose State University.
He has been a featured performer at The San Jose Jazz Festival, The Hallcrest
Vineyards Jazz Festival, Jazz at the Aquarium (Monterey CA.) and the Monterey
Jazz Festival.
Kerry Kashiwagi
Kerry Kashiwagi is an acoustic and electric bassist and composer with over 20
years of professional experience. He is a member of the acclaimed Capital Jazz
Project and an adjunct professor of Jazz Bass at American River College in
Sacramento, California.
Kamau Mensah
Kamau Mensah is a native of Hartford, Connecticut. He studied West African
rhythms under master drummers Abdulaye Diokute, Zak Diof and Moshe Milon.
He also studied Afro-Cuban rhythms with noted Cuban drum legend Francisco
Aguabella and his protégé Harold Muniz. Kamau has performed internationally
with the University of California, Davis Black Repertory Dance Theatre. He was
invited as a special guest to perform with Ensemble Afrique and the Kuumba West
African Dance Collective. He is the founder of the West African ensembles Etutu
Egun and Lam Toro as well as the Afro-Cuban ensembles Omoele and Bokosun.
In his spare time, Kamau conducts lecture/clinics for elementary and middle
school children.
Brian Kendrick
Brian Kendrick has been a percussionist for 25 years. He has performed
extensively in a variety of popular musical styles as well as having been a member
of the San Antonio Symphony, Symphony West (Palm Springs) The Stockton
Symphony and the Bear Valley Orchestra. Presently he teaches Percussion
and Jazz at California State University, Stanislaus, as well as directing the CSU
Jazz Ensemble.
